The Texas Board Of Veterinary Medical Examiners ;Summit is scheduled for Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. The agenda is available online. The meeting will be held in person at 1106 Clayton Lane, Suite 125E Austin Texas 78723 and will be broadcast live on TDLR's YouTube channel.

TBVME is aware of the proliferation of fake or fraudulent licensed veterinary technician certificates. We encourage employers and the public to look up licensees using our licensee lookup tool or call our office to confirm licensure status.

The COVID 19 related Continuing Education waiver for license renewals ended on January 1, 2022. All renewals occurring on or after April 1, 2022, will be required to have completed all required continuing education for the license renewal.

New Licensee Self-Service Portal

The new licensee self-service portal is active and now features the ability to submit New Applications for Licensure. Additional features available include the ability for licensees to create an account, verify information, and view certain licensee documents online. Additional modules will be released soon, which will include the ability to renew a license within the self-service portal and make any required payments to Board.

This soft launch is designed to begin populating account information within the system and evaluating system performance outside of the test environment. If you have feedback on your experience with features included in this initial release, please send provide the feedback to portal@veterinary.texas.gov.

We are excited to announce the launch of our new licensing portal! As part of our ongoing commitment to our licensees, we have upgraded our platform to better serve your needs.

Our new system is expected to Go Live on late July 2024.

Fingerprinting Required for New Applicants & Renewals in 2019

Recent changes to Texas law (Chapter 801, Occupations Code) require that all licensed veterinarians, licensed veterinary technicians (LVTs), and licensed equine dental providers (EDPs) submit fingerprints to the Board for purposes of performing a criminal history record information check.

***Licenses expiring in January 2019, will not be permitted to renew until the licensee's fingerprints have been submitted to the Board. Applicants for a new license must submit fingerprints before a license may be issued. ***

Austin, Texas - April 5, 2018 - Texas Board of Veterinary Medical Examiner's Executive Director, John Helenberg, has released a statement regarding the Board's enforcement of Rule 573.43 (Controlled Substance Registration) which clarifies the DEA Registration requirements.

Notice to Military Veterans, Active Service Members, and Military Spouses

Senate Bill 807 (84th Legislative Session) eliminates the application and examination fees for military veterans, active military service members, and military spouses. To implement this change, the application instructions have been changed to reflect the type of documentation required to claim the military fee waiver. The fee waiver applies only to applications received after September 1, 2015. Please see the application instructions for more information. All license types are eligible for this fee waiver.
